MPN Presents Common Wealth Games Gold Coast

Update: 15 April 2018, Sunday
Congratulations host nation, Australia in providing a spectacular platform for the Games this year whilst bagging a total of 198 medals along the way! Albeit there was a minor hiccup during the closing ceremony which saw former Queensland premier, Peter Beattie apologising the very next day after strong criticism on social media. Read the wrap up of the Games from BBC here and we’ll see you again for Birmingham 2022!

The 2018 Commonwealth Games begins from 4 to 15 April in Gold Coast, Australia with the opening ceremony starting at 0800GMT. This will be the largest sporting event that Australia has hosted in this decade and will also be the 5th time hosting the games.

The games will see 70 countries compete in 19 sports over 11 days, so take a look through the schedule below and choose your favorites! We’ll be looking out for the Swimming, Cycling, Badminton, and Hockey games, but I think the feel good story for 2018 will be the entry of 11-year old Welsh table tennis player, Anna Hursey whom will undoubtedly be the youngest athlete to compete in the games.
