This year’s 2017/18 National Football League will mark the 98th season of the Football League since being founded in 1920. As the highest professional league in American football, the Football League is contested by 32 of the best teams from the AFC and NFC through a 17-week regular season. After which, the best 6 teams will then advance to the playoffs to compete through a single-elimation tournament, all for a chance at this season’s prestigious Super Bowl LII.

The 2017/18 Football League’s 65-game preseason has already started since 3 August and will conclude on 31 August 2017. As usual, this is just a precursor to the main 256-game regular season which will commence on 7 September 2017 and finally kicking off with the Playoffs on 6 January 2018. With the best teams from the AFC and NFC, the Super Bowl LII (2018) hosted at the U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis will be the final showdown of the NFL season on 4 February 2018.

Live coverage of selected games will be available through Sky Sports while BBC Sport’s The NFL Show will be providing free highlights throughout the season (excluding preseason games).
