This page will guide you through installing the Amazon App Store on your Android device. The Amazon App Store is an app store developed by for the Android operating system. Launched in 2011, it is available in nearly 200 countries. Over the years, it is has become the preferred way to download Amazon specific applications such as Amazon Instant Video and the Amazon Shopping app.


Note: As the app is managed by Amazon and not Google, payments are made through the Amazon account linked to your device.


Once you’ve installed the Amazon App Store, you’ll then be able to download the Amazon Instant Video and Shopping app. Kindly refer to the instructional guide below:

To install Amazon’s App Store on your Android device, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Get Started


Confirm that your device allows the installation of apps from Unknown Sources.

To confirm this, please follow the steps below:


  1. Open Settings and navigate to Unknown Sources.
    Note: Depending on your device, this setting could either be under Applications or Security.
  2. If Unknown Sources is already checked, please leave it be and continue with Step 2.
  3. If Unknown Sources is not already checked, please tap on the check box and then confirm the selection in the pop up box.

Step 2: Download Amazon App Store

From the settings screen, go back to your Home screen by pressing the Home button.

Next, open your preferred web browser and enter the following address:

Note: This is the official Amazon App Store download page where you can begin the download for your android device.

Step 3: Install Amazon App Store

Once the download is complete, please pull down the notification bar and tap on the downloaded file.


Note: The file name should be AmazonApps-release.apk 


  1. Tap Install.
  2. Tap Open.
  3. Sign in with your Amazon account.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully installed the Amazon App Store on your android device. You’ll now instantly gain access to the thousands of apps offered on the platform!


Whilst you’ve gained access to apps in your respective country, you might be interested in apps from a different region (i.e. UK or USA). To do this, you will need an Amazon account in that country to purchase or download them.
