Unfortunately the Roku does not allow you to set up a VPN connection on the device itself, therefore something else needs to connect to our VPN service and then share that connection with the device.
An easy method would be to configure our services on a router that is VPN compatible. This allows the router to connect directly to our network and any device connected to the router, such as your Roku, will automatically connect to our network.
While some routers come pre-configured with VPN, most of the well known ones, (i.e Linksys, Buffalo, Dlink, Asus, etc.) requires you to install a custom firmware in order to get the VPN functionality.
Connecting via VPN
To configure your router to use a custom router firmware and connect to our VPN, kindly follow one of the guides below.
Once you’ve successfully connected to our VPN with your router, all that’s left is to connect your Roku to the same network as the router and you’re done!
However, if you feel that a VPN router connection is too cumbersome, a slightly easier alternative would be to use our MyTelly (Smart DNS) service.
Connecting via MyTelly
Now that you’ve got a successful VPN running through your Roku device, you’re probably thinking of downloading some restricted TV apps for it. This is the second most important step as the Roku only displays apps locally available based on your IP address and where your Roku account was created from.
So if your Roku account was created in France for example, you’ll basically not be able to see any other apps other than the French ones. If you’re interested to download U.S or U.K apps for your Roku, kindly refer to one of our guides below.
